Have you noticed the sleek curve in our sine wave and the modern updates on our website? Say hi to EDI’s brand-new aesthetic! From a revamped logo to an updated color palette and typeface, we’ve been hard at work refining our look under the new Synapse ITS platform. With decades of history in the transportation industry, we’re thrilled to unveil this evolution and showcase what it means for our valued customers and for us.
We’ve undergone a remarkable transformation.
EDI’s journey began humbly, with a 3-man team in founder Terry Eberle’s garage. Fast forward 44 years, and our critical infrastructure technology now monitors intersections in every city across the United States.
In 2022 we embraced the next chapter under new ownership. This past spring, alongside our sister companies Carmanah, Polara, and Diablo Controls, we proudly introduced our parent company’s new identity – Synapse ITS – and unified our vision under a solid navy color across the platform.
While paying homage to EDI’s familiar logo, we’ve introduced a new curve in our sine wave to reflect our forward momentum and renewed investment in product and customer service.
We’re going BOLD.
Navigate our website, and you’ll discover glimpses of magenta – Synapse’s signature color. What’s bolder than magenta? Our new typeface of course! As a nod to the growth and strength within our brand, our EDI acronym stands taller and more distinct than ever before.
Stay tuned for more exciting news and changes to EDI and the Synapse ITS platform.

Eberle Design Inc. will feature the latest addition to its Intelligent Cabinet Interface to Traffic Equipment (iCITE®) suite of products, the iCITE® Data Aggregator DA-700-C-V2X™, at the 99th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board, January 12-16, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, DC. Eberle Design, Inc. will exhibit at booth #1205 in the TRB exhibition hall.
The iCITE® Data Aggregator DA-700-C-V2X™ can simultaneously receive and monitor SAE-J2735 protocol compliant messages transmitted wirelessly using Dedicated Short-Range Communications, (DSRC), using 802.11p protocol, and/or 5G/C-V2X messages transmitted from a connected vehicle’s On-Board Unit (OBU), or an infrastructure-based Road-Side Unit (RSU). Such data as vehicles’ Basic Safety Messages (BSM), Vulnerable Road User (VRU) messages, Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT) data, which provides real-time traffic signal state information, Map Data, which provides intersection geometry, are all available with the DA-700-C-V2X™ unit. The DA-700™ series enables traffic management agencies seeking immediate and affordable ways to upgrade any existing NEMA TS-2 or ATC compliant intersection into a fully Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) enabled intersection, without having to replace an entire traffic cabinet, traffic controller, or intersection safety monitor. The DA-700-C-V2X™ carries with it the assurance of safety, compatibility and proper operating interfaces with intersection safety monitors manufactured by Eberle Design, Inc. and Reno A&E. The DA-700™ device is compatible with any Mobile Network Operator having 4G or 5G cellular communications infrastructure, domestically or internationally.
The DA-700-C-V2X™ is also able to provide, in cooperation with an iCITE-Ready® data analytics partner, real-time turning movement counts, amber/red actuations, arrivals on red, detector failures, preemption details, communications and power failures/alerts, split and interval timing data, and the Purdue Coordination Diagram, based upon the high resolution data set and is fully compliant with the new NEMA TS-9 Automated Performance Measures standard. All of these features are tailored to provide automated traffic signal performance measures via a Cloud-based user-friendly interface. Users can also access real-time intersection and arterial traffic data from any traffic cabinet, via high-speed internal or external communications devices, regardless of the traffic controller or central ITS system.
